NYC Dog on long lease

Cass Almendral I almost ran over a little poodle on a long lease while pulling out of my garage. The owner yelled "You almost Killed my dog." I automatically said "Sorry, but "almost" only counts in horse shoes and grenades!" Did that make any sense?

no one can see a dog when they are coming out of a NYC garage, she should know better - practice not auto saying sorry because you never know when it might be used as an admission of guilt against you.....when you actually are just being polite

Reminds me of the loss of yorkies in Fish Called Wanda.

Dumb dog vs. dumb owner, hmmmmm.

I have little dogs (and kids) and thus "take care" of what's important. You 'almost' saved him from what would have been his loss but also your headache (some wont realize that a driver can't see little dogs or kids out a rear-view mirror).

A gentleman would have apologized and went on his way to a fabulous dinner party or weekend in the Hamptons. No need to engage the overly hysterical and irresponsible dog walker with sarcasm. Bad attitudes are like viruses. We can pass them on, which only makes life unpleasant for everyone...or we can shut them down with kindness, which hopefully prevents an epidemic of haughty behavior.

Murray - all your assumptions are incorrect, except yes I am a lawyer, thus my advice that auto "sorry" can be a problem, you can say "I'm sorry you are upset" and then you are fine but just "im sorry" infers you did something wrong when you may not have
